WE WISH HE KNEW…
We like white lies: When we ask whether that dress suits us, or if we think she is prettier than us, or looks better in a bikini, stop. Think. If it’s not a good answer, sugar-coat it. We want white lies. The truth can set us back years.
When we say ‘oh it’s nothing’ it’s really not nothing. DO NOT shrug and say ‘OK.’ This phrase means you’ve successfully peed us off for not knowing what’s wrong. It means we want you to think about the situation, hard, and work it out.
We wish you’d pay attention to the little things. We get hurt, frankly, that when it comes to your birthday for example, we know what you’d like -this is because we have made mental notes over a period of time – yet when you have to ask what to buy us, we get cross. Pay attention! We drop enough hints…
We wish you were tidy. We know it’s not you’re sole intention for us to be your house slave but that’s how we feel when you leave wet towels on the floor and clothes all over the floor. And why can’t your dirty washing ever make it into the laundry basket? You made it to the lid for goodness sake? And would you ever wash the bed sheets if we weren’t there? We’re not your mother, pick up after yourself guys!
We wish you weren’t so childish around your mates. We don’t get why you suddenly laugh overly loudly at smutty innuendos, or swear more and or tell rude jokes. We inwardly freak you’re secretly 10.
Sometimes we just want to rant about a bad day at work. We don’t want you to jump in with a solution. Just listen.
PMS does exist: IT JUST DOES, OK?! Nuff said.

WE WISH SHE KNEW…
We do get emotional. Sure, we had a little weep when Bambi’s mum got shot, but we can’t always show it to you. We bottle things up, we don’t share feelings and talk about it like you girls. We might go quiet, go to the gym or pub. We’re supposed to be the strong ones. I guess we’re still battling centuries of crying not being manly, but trust us, we are feeling it.
We like to give an honest answer to a question. Whenever a woman asks us about her appearance, we freak a little inside. It’s like a trick question. You start with ‘be honest…’ but you really don’t mean that…you know we fancy you but please ask your mates.
When we say something nice we really mean it. It’s a big deal for us to say something nice without being prompted so we’re not messing about if we do. We’re as surprised as you that we said it, frankly.
We are visual creatures. So you might catch us checking out another girls. Don’t hate us, we mean no harm by it, girls are better looking than us guys but it’s you we choose to be with.
We have physical insecurities too. Walking past the cover of Men’s Health (and other fitness mags) doesn’t help. Guys are looking buff these days, waxing, six-packs, teeth whitening, fake tan, we’re feeling pressured to be ‘beach body ready’ too.
We go into our cave when something has made us cross or upset. We don’t mean to hurt you with our silence when you’re trying to help us. We just need time to figure it out in our heads. Leave us for a bit, we’ll come round.
We know we’re rubbish at paying attention to the small stuff. We mean to, we’d like to, somehow we’re just a little inept at being as thoughtful as you. It might seem lazy, maybe it’s because our mums did all that stuff, but we’re like dogs, praise or reward us when we do it, it encourages us…
We love you more than we say we do…
