With the evenings drawing in and our summer shorts officially packed away for another year – sob! – we thought we would talk food, namely food that gets us in the mood. Did you know the smell of pumpkin pie increases the flow of blood to the sex organs by 40 per cent? Yes, really.
It seems autumn and winter is all about finding the one. A new study has shown that the winter months see people, who have always been promiscuous, look for a more serious and long-term partner. Apparently the colder weather, as well as making us dig out our winter coats, affects out brains. Boffins in white coats at Florida State University identified the factors responsible on some prairie voles – who as well as being small and fluffy. It seems DNA is the reason that we look to settle down in the winter months.
So with that in mind, we thought we would list five of our favourite winter foods for you to enjoy because the way to your partner’s heart is often through their stomach.
Pumpkin pie
As well as turning us on, the seeds are great for men’s sexual health and boost sex drive because of the high level of zinc. So get carving those pumpkins in time for Hallowe’en and dish up the middle bit in a yummy pie.
Chocolate fondue
Perfect for a night in with your partner, chocolate’s aphrodisiac powers can be traced back for hundreds of years. Eating chocolate also stimulates the release of endorphins that generate feelings of well-being and pleasure. Dip strawberries in your fondue for an extra sensual touch.
Steak
Nothing quite hits the spot when it comes to a romantic dinner for two than a perfectly cooked steak. Lay the table with candles – add a creamy sauce and you’re guaranteed a good night.
Oysters
They are not to everyone’s taste so dish them up with caution but traditionally oysters were a culinary symbol of passion because of their salty, sweet taste and soft texture.
Ice cream
Music on? Check. Lights dimmed? Check. Ice cream and one spoon? Check. Spoon-feeding each other ice cream can be extremely sensuous, fun and delicious to boot.
