Once you’ve forgotten all about how much you hate your boss and if the date is going to plan, head out afterwards to your nearest favourite bar.

Go to the Electric Cinema
Cost: £7.80 for a standard adult ticket We know it’s a bit of a date cliché but this is no ordinary cinema. The Art Deco Electric Cinema is the oldest in the country, dating back to 1909 and features not only amazingly comfy chairs, but waiter service where you can order your cocktail via your mobile once the film has started. Located on Station Street near the Bullring, you will find mainstream releases, alongside independent flicks, so you are guaranteed to find something you will both want to see. And if it goes well, after payday you can upgrade to one of the sofas for two…

Visit Tamworth castle
Cost: £7 Game of Thrones fans, listen in! Think intrigue, history, fantasy and drama. Tamworth Castle is considered one of the finest examples of large-scale architecture in the UK and it has been attracting visitors from all over the world for decades. There is plenty to see including the castle’s maze of rooms, halls, chambers and ancient walkways. There are special events running throughout the year, from spooky Hallowe’en experiences, to festive fun at Christmas and there are regular re-enactments and staged scenes from the past.

Have a curry
Cost: Around £10 per person Birmingham is the curry capital of the UK and the original home of the Balti.
