Life is sweet: 5 top of the choc dates!

Yes, it’s Easter, which can only mean one thing… lots of chocolate! If you’re going to buy your date some special treats this Easter, we’ve pulled out the best places to go shopping (and I’m sure it wouldn’t be rude to have a few tastes along the way!) or even better, to go to together for a fun, choc-filled date. Here they are:

ChoccyWoccyChoccywoccydoodah

This art and design-based chocolatier, based on Foubert’s Place, W1, specialises in chocolate, one-off sculptured ‘fantasies’, chocolate gifts and all sort of other naughty stuff. You can buy individual giant choc-coated marshmallows, white chocolate lovebirds, chocolate popcorn and chocolate and bacon chunky bars. If you’re with a date, upstairs there is a “secret place” serving a host of tasty treats.

With branches in Richmond and Belgravia and a concession in Harrod’s, you can never go wrong with William Curley’s chocolates. Winner of Britain’s Best Chocolatier five times, he and his wife are also highly respected pastry chefs. Head to the flagship Belgravia store, where you can sit at the Dessert bar and tuck into one of the many chocolates or pastries on display with a glass of bubbles if that’s what you fancy. There is even a five-course dessert menu on offer for those with a super sweet tooth!

With shops on Wardour Street in Soho, The Royal Exchange at Bank, Camden Passage in Islington and a concession in Heal’s on Tottenham Court Road, you will never be too far from some delicious chocolates made by this ground-breaking and inspirational chocolatier. Everything in his shops are made by hand, using the freshest ingredients – and if you want chocs with a twist, this is the place to go.

DerosierDeRosier

This new chocolatier in residential Southfields offer original handmade chocolates, treats and novelties all using high cocoa content and depth of flavour. If you’re local, take your date on a walk on Wimbledon Park, then stop off here for a hot chocolate drink made from single origin chocolate and plenty of milk, before treating them to a box of truffles to take away.

MelangeThe Melange

Located in Peckham, this chocolate shop and café serves up an enticing mux of croissants, brownies and truffles, alongside chocolate-making workshops, chocolate and wine matching sessions and classes on painting with chocolate.  They also infuse spices, herbs, fruit, flowers, seeds, tea and coffee into first grade Belgian chocolate to create unusual chocolate bars with unique flavour combinations. The best news? Everything can be sampled!
