According to the experts around the world, there are plenty of fictional phrases doing the rounds about love and sex. Want to test your sex IQ? We thought we’d take a look and separate fact from fiction:
Sex is only physical – False!
Intimacy is not just a physical connection. Of course a marathon session in the bedroom is physical but a lot of the sex goes on in our brains. This is our most sexual organ and is not only responsible for turning us on and off, but for determining the intensity of our emotions, desire and attachment to our partner.
Sex in the movies is – False!
Do you think physical chemistry that we see in films and on the TV means that every time two people get together mind-blowing sex follows? Sadly, in the real world, things don’t always run quite so smoothly and it’s not a case of one style-fits-all. However awkward it may feel at first, good communication is key to good sex.
Men have more urges than women – False!
Men think about sex every seven seconds, right? Erm, wrong. The truth is, like women, men’s libido changes day to day, depending on numerous factors, including diet, sleep, health and stress.
Size matters – False!
Size is not a barometer of manhood, guys! There are many things that are important when it comes to sex and size really only pays a small part. And contrary to popular belief, the size of a guy’s manhood has nothing to do with the dimensions of his hands or feet…
Aphrodisiacs will put you in the mood – False!
Strawberries, chocolate and champagne may be delicious but while they are said to put you in the mood, there is no scientific evidence that this is really the case. Many foods can make you feel good and trigger certain memories or desire in your mind, meaning everyone’s aphrodisiacs are different.
