There is nowhere better to go for a date then hang out on the beach. With Singapore’s weather pretty balmy all year round, frankly, there’s is no excuse not too – with fab views, a cool sea breeze and pretty sunsets to admire, it’s time to get sand between your toes and slather on the romance-factor. Best For: A chilled-out ambience
Situated along a golden stretch of Sentosa’s Siloso Beach, Coastes offers a chilled out beach vibe, with plenty of sunbeds and deckchairs perched on the water’s edge to relax on. There is a great drinks menu with premium beers, spirits, mocktails, cocktails and champagne on offer. If you are feeling hungry, tuck into sandwiches, pizza, pasta, seafood or beach bites (perfect for date sharing). Whether it’s first date brunch at the weekend, a post work chill out or a romantic and dreamy meal with an existing partner, a date here will make you feel like you are on holiday!
Best For: Dancing the night away
Inspired by the Miami and Caribbean hangouts of the ‘50s, this bar is one of the liveliest on the Siloso Beach strip. This bar has more of a club hangout, with shots aplenty, cocktails from mixologists and flairtenders behind the bar and club music from the resident DJs. There is indoor and outdoors bars, a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and cabanas, so make sure you take your swimmers.
With a slogan like “it’s no obvious but life moves slower here”, Tanjong Beach Club is the perfect place for a weekend laze. With cushy daybeds, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a pool and al-fresco bar, it is easy to while away a few hours here. It was voted by Conde Nast as the ‘World’s Top Beach Bar’ and has all day dining, featuring everything from small bites through to grilled whole maine lobsters and a huge drinks menu. If you fancy livelier weekend action, Sundays are famed for their weekly Smack Me Up beach parties with pumping music from live DJs.
This beachside bar and bistro on East Coast park serves up mussels in 12 different ways including favourites Mariniere, Vin Blanc and Meridionale, washed down with one of 150 different bottled Belgian beers. There is also other Belgian fare on offer, like the Carbonade Flamande (brown beer-braised beef stew), Boulettes (Belgian meatballs) and Waterzooi A La Gantoise (traditional creamy seafood stew).
Running for over 10 years, Sunset Bay was Sentosa’s first public beach bar and was revamped in 2007 with a new “beach garden” concept. The bistro opened in July 2013 and blends chilled-out ambience with a Eurasian dishes like oxtail stew and their house devil’s curry. For drinks, the menu features plenty of cocktails and iced cocktails, like mojitos and pina coladas. Happy Hour runs from Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 8pm and there is live music every day other then Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
This low-key restaurant and bar is joined to a watersports venue with loads of equipment and sports on offer. Go surfing, sailing, kayaking or try out one of the other activities on offer, then enjoy some of the hearty and unpretentious food on offer, like burgers herb-crusted salmon or baby back ribs. The food here is really cheap and the vibe is great.
