Happy August to all Lovestruckers! We bet that you, like most of the British public, are eagerly counting down the days ’til bank holiday Monday (10 to go!). But in the meantime, here’s a spot-on date idea to distract yourself from the summer doldrums from the lovely folks at the Bluffer’s Guide: For a pitcher-perfect date (excuse the pun…) head to Frank’s Café and Campari bar atop a car park all the way out in Peckham, SE15. Although a bit of trek for north Londoners – or indeed for any Londoner – the views are remarkable.
Our next date recommendation brings us back to comfortable kaftan of Zone 1 and the National Theatre. So if you’re hoping to dodge this drizzly weather, imagine yourself with the cast of Liola.
This high-spirited drama by Pirandello takes us to the heart of a rural community where property and family provoke fierce passions. Richard Eyre directs Tanya Ronder’s new version, performed by an Irish cast and gypsy musicians. It’s unexpected, funny and touching. Even better news is that you can win a pair of tickets for you and a lucky date! Simply head to our Twitter page @Lovestruck and retweet our competition post!
And as it’s been a classy affair so far, why not don your cravates and load your pipes for the free outdoor Canary Wharf Jazz Festival – a chance to listen to some of London’s most established and emerging jazz musicians. Nice.
The next Lovestruck Laissez-Faire is at The Hoxton Pony, Weds 21 Aug. It’s fun, free to attend and all are welcome to pop along (even non-Lovestruckers). So tell all your single friends/colleagues and have a drink or two at London’s hottest free ticket in town.
With a miming action to ask if you’d like a beer,
The Lovestruck Lovebot
