Bad love history? Rewrite it.

KeyHeart

We’ve all made bad relationship choices in the past; forgiving that love rat, letting somone take advantage of your good nature, thinking you could tame a wild one…or thinking that that extra glass of wine was a good idea at the end of the night, er hum.  But you shouldn’t let this define you. Don’t dwell on these mistakes, learn from them and move forward.

As life coach Kelly Rudolph wisely says: “You can view your past history in one of two ways: as the brakes that stop you from your dream or the jet fuel that launches you into your dream.”

It’s worth remembering that only you hold the key to your future happiness.

So, want to make a bad love history a thing of the past and start over? Come on, we’ll do this together. Here are our 5 top tips:

1. Delete bad exes from your phone and social media: Banish all contacts from your mobile phone. Why upset yourself each time you scroll past – or remind yourself about what went wrong in the past? The same applies to social media; defriend, unfollow and ignore.

2. Stop talking about the past: Sure, friends and family will want to help you and give you advice about moving forwards but the best thing is to stop talking about painful events in the past. As you disconnect, you will find it easier to move on and live in the present.

3. Make a list of what you want: So you thought you wanted to change a bad boy, or keep up with a cool girl? Maybe those kind of people aren’t right for you? Sit down and try to work out what sort of person you really want to meet, not the sort of person you think will rock you’re world.

4. Start hanging out with new people: Try to expand your social circles outside of your normal work/play environments. You can start afresh and no one will know anything about you, unless you chose to tell them.

5. Build your confidence: Often break-ups are far less to do with us than we think, and much more to do with the other person. The best way to move on is to stop blaming yourself and increase your self-esteem. Try new things, be open to meeting new people and aim to live a healthy lifestyle. You’ll be feeling better in no time!

So, here’s to making a bad love history a thing of the past and starting over! Cheers!
