Looking for love? Living in West London and unsure where to start when it comes to finding the perfect partner? Being a fully-fledged West Londoner is great (let’s face it, the area rocks) but dating can be just that bit trickier and meeting that special someone can sometimes be really tough. Why not let Lovestruck.com give you a helping hand…
Where do all the singles live? The good news is that London as a whole has the highest proportion of single households, according to the Office for National Statistics. The same survey showed that 59 per cent of men and 53 per cent of women in Hammersmith and Fulham are single, compared to 35 per cent nationally. In most West London boroughs over 36.8 per cent of both sexes are yet to find that special someone. The conclusions: Single people are everywhere – on the tube, at your local bar, in the library, in the park (you get the drift…)
Great! So, how do I find them? There are loads of ways to meet people but this is our speciality. Lovestruck.com lets you date others singletons who live, work or are simply are near your West London hangouts. Clever huh? Meet for a no-hassle coffee or a drink and ‘test’ chemistry. Dating this way puts you in control, rather than hanging out nursing a glass of white every weekend at the pub, hoping that fittie from the next-door office comes by.
Where should I go? For the first date, keep it simple with a coffee or after work drinks. This is especially important if it’s someone you haven’t met before. We love Coffee Plant on Portobello Road, Hummingbird Café in Shepherd’s Bush or Gracelands Café in Kensal Rise . Whatever you do, keep it relaxed so you can talk freely and get to know each other.
Moving forwards there are loads of fab date venues in West London. There are magical date venues aplenty: The Electric Cinema in Notting Hill has comfy velvet chairs, blankets and a bar selling champagne and chocolate brownies, while in Kensington, the Roof Gardens serves killer cocktails, among beautiful gardens of 100 tress, a stream and a garden pond full of flamingos and ducks. Or you could soak up nature and history at Chiswick House. There are seasonal events, tours of the house and gardens and a few perfect picnicking spots.
What if my date is a foodie? Again if you’re a West Londoner on a date and looking for somewhere great to eat, you really will be spoilt for choice. Some of our favourites include Lowry & Baker in Maida Vale, a cool neighbourhood hangout selling superb food; Annie’s in Chiswick, a gorgeous restaurant tucked away behind the Thames and Maggie Jones on Kensington Church Street, which serves excellent French food at great prices.
