Here at Lovestruck, we do enjoy a good survey and recently we stumbled across a complete blinder. The survey questioned 70,000 couples worldwide – making it the largest of its kind – and was conducted by Chrisanna Northrup, a San Diego–based wellness entrepreneur who wanted to improve her marriage and some other science bods. The results were published earlier this year by Women’s Health and the results were intriguing.
Do you sometimes think, ‘I wonder if we are the only couple who do that?’ The answer is almost a resounding no. Phew!
Take a look at the results below:
The Problem: ‘I wish my man looked better!’
The Norm: More than a third of both women and men wish their partner would care more about looking good.
The Problem: ‘We’re embarrassingly kinky in bed!’
The Norm: 86 per cent of both men and women are intrigued by the idea of adding toys to their sex lives and more than half of couples already have. If you haven’t already shared your turn-ons and fantasies, why not start now?
The Problem: ‘I’m worried he might stray.’
The Norm: Only 39 per cent of women completely trust their partners. This is not without foundations: 69 per cent of men said that if propositioned, they’d be tempted to have sex with someone outside of their relationship.
The Problem: ‘We never kiss.’
The Norm: 70 per cent of couples have kissing sessions from time to time, and more than half of couples say they kiss like crazy several times a week.
The Problem: ‘I have no idea how much money he earns.’
The Norm: 80 per cent of extremely happy couples know their partner’s salary.
The Problem: ‘We use cringe-worthy pet names.’
The Norm: Really, ‘bunnywunnykins’? 76 per cent of couples say they are happy to use nicknames.
The Problem: ‘I think about breaking up with him constantly.’
The Norm: 37 per cent of both men and women fantasize about leaving their partner ‘all the time or often,’ and another 33 per cent ‘sometimes’ have these thoughts.
The Problem: ‘When I’m angry, I make him sleep on the couch.’
The Norm: More than half of couples have slept separately after a fight.
The Problem: ‘I love PDA (public displays of affection).’
The Norm: More than half of couples get amorous in public.
The Problem: ‘I read his e-mail.’
The Norm: 54 per cent of women (and 49 per cent of men) snoop on their partner’s in-box.
