How many times have you fallen head over heels in love? Once? Twice? Never? You think you were in love with your ex but looking back (and at their recent Facebook pics), you can’t quite see why, so maybe you weren’t?
According to a recent survey, we only fall in love twice in our lifetime. Hmmm, we’d like those odds to be a little higher wouldn’t you?
The survey of 2000 adults by Siemens found that on average, people have also been heartbroken once – while five per cent have been left heartbroken more than five times. Ouch!
The poll also revealed that 73 per cent of people admitted they had “settled” with their current partner because they weren’t able to be with their true love – and they had stopped looking for them. One out of seven didn’t think the person were dating was the “love of their life” and they had “made do”.
Of the people questioned, 17 per cent said they had met the love of their life since they started dating their spouse. 46 per cent said they would leave their partner to shack up with their true love. However, men were proved to be the more loyal sex, with 37 per cent saying they would stick with their current partner.
According to the poll, 60 per cent said it took just 10 weeks to decide whether the person they were dating was “The One”. And a quarter of those surveyed said they have been in love with two people at the same time.
What do you think Lovestruckers? Have you been in love more than twice? Have you settled for someone who isn’t the love of your life? Tell us @lovestruck
