What is it about the male species of celebrity and their inability to keep their designer trousers up? The juicy news had been doing the rounds for a few days that a well-known British music star had allegedly fathered a secret love child in the US and now Liam Gallagher is suing the New York Times after they named him as the man in question.
At the weekend The Sun newspaper reported the star was ‘desperately trying to keep his US love child a secret – fearing his wife would dump him’. And yesterday the New York Times alleged that the former Oasis star, 40, who married All Saints singer Nicole Appleton in 2008 and already has three children, fathered the child after a one-night stand with an unnamed woman, who works as a showbiz reporter.
The woman, who is said to be in her thirties, reportedly claims she gave birth to a daughter less than a year ago. Both parties had been desperately trying to keep the news under wraps.
However, the New York Post claimed the mystery woman is suing Liam, who is now frontman of new band Beady Eye, for £2million in paternity costs in a Manhattan Family Court, in a case listed as ‘Anonyomus vs Anonymous’. She is apparently willing to take DNA tests. The case, which commenced last week, was adjourned until later this month.
When the news broke, Liam’s spokesman refused to comment but it was later claimed that he planned on suing the paper.
Oh Liam, this news does make us weep into our ice creams. It hardly sets an example to normal men but if it is true, he certainly won’t be alone in his infidelity: Jude Law became father to baby Sophia after a brief fling with an actress; Arnold Schwarzenegger had an affair with his housekeeper resulting in a son called Joseph; and who could possibly forget Boris Becker’s encounter in the broom cupboard of a London restaurant, resulting in daughter Anna?
