The top ‘oscar’ winning date-eateries are…

A number of London eateries have been named as some of the world’s best by Elite Traveler in its prestigious Elite 100 Restaurants 2014 list. So, get your best dates shoes on and get ready to walk that red carpet. The awards go to…

LedburyThe Ledbury, Notting Hill

Voted ninth place on the list, this two Michelin-starred restaurant is popular with the likes of Kate Moss, Lily Alan and Alan Rickman. Obviously The Ledbury is all about the food, which is created by Aussie chef Brett Graham and dubbed by the critics as ‘pure delight’ and a ‘foodie’s paradise’. A set lunch is £45 for four courses and a sample menu starts with fresh almonds, salad of green beans and peach, followed by wild salmon, tomato butter, crayfish and basil. Jowl of pork, fennel, mousserons and elderflower honey and baked meringue mango and citrus and vanilla or cheese follows.

HestingDinner by Heston Blumenthal, Hyde Park

Ranked as number 23 on the Elite Traveller list, famed chef Heston Blumenthal’s venue is based in the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park and it has also bagged two Michelin stars. Known for his kooky creations, Heston’s menu focuses on dishes inspired by Britain’s gastronomic past with recipes dating back as far as the 16th century and adapted for today’s diners. Examples include Spiced pigeon with ale and artichokes and Tipsy Cake made with Spit Roast Pineapple. They also serve a set lunch for £38 per head for three courses.

GordonRestaurant Gordon Ramsay, Chelsea

On the list just after Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, the fiery chef’s Hospital Road restaurant in Chelsea is listed in 24th place. With three Michelin stars, Chef Clare Smyth heads up the kitchen providing elegant modern French cuisine to diners. As well as dining, the restaurant offers a masterclass where you can learn some of the skills required to produce the food the restaurant offers. A three-course lunch menu costs £55 per head.

AmayaAmaya, Belgravia

Located in the heart of Belgravia, Amaya made the Elite Traveler list in 76th place. They offer unique cuisine based on contemporary Indian food ‘with a hint of the Orient’. Their food preparation methods include the three-core Indian styles of grilling including Tandoor (in a really hot clay over), Sigri (cooking over a coal flame) and Tawa (searing and griddling on a hot plate). They do a fabulous quick lunch, which includes six tasting potions for £22.50 per person.
