Talk like a man

Doubt-fire“Sorry I’m late. After all those scotches I had to pee like a racehorse…”

Girls, are you guilty of side stepping the question? For whatever reason, we all do it. Sometimes it is easy to think that men can read our minds and sometimes we actually want them too but erm, *whispers* they really can’t so the trick is to answer ‘man-style’ which, translated, means bluntly. This will avoid disappointment.

Here are 5 things answers to some of his questions that he’s gonna understand:

‘What’s wrong?’

Nope, ‘nothing’ is not the right answer. What IS wrong? If you’re annoyed at your boyfriend, then this is the perfect opportunity to say why and air your grievances (in a balanced way, if you possibly can). He’s probably desperately wracking his brains thinking about all the way he could’ve upset you, so put him out of his misery.

‘What would you like me to buy you?’

Again, ‘oh..nothing’ doesn’t quite cut it here and if you say that, then you are likely to get nothing. Nada. Dropping hints doesn’t cut it either. If you would like something for your birthday/Christmas/special occasion, say what! Equally if that cool bag/amazing pair of shoes/gig tickets are on your wish list then now’s your chance to get your request in.

‘What would you like me to do?’

When he asks this question in relation to your bedroom activities, do tell him exactly what you would like him to do. He is asking for guidance and if you let him think he’s hitting all the right spots when in fact he isn’t, then you’re likely to regret it. Talking about it is a simple solution but an effective one.

‘How do you see your future?’

Avoid telling him you have named your children on a first date but if this question arises, then talk frankly and openly about what your wishes are for your future. The most successful relationships are based on shared values and wishes for the future, so if you want marriage and kids and he doesn’t, or vice versa, it is far better to find out sooner rather than later.

‘What are you worried about?’

Everyone has their moments of jealousy and insecurity but if you have serious worries about him cheating on you, then you need to bring it out into the open. The conversation may not be the easiest but tell him and tell him your reasons for for feeling like you do. If it’s meant to be, he will reassure you that you have nothing to worry about. Honesty is always the best policy.
