‘Women your age love that about me…”
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are the talk of the celebrity world – and there is a pretty big age gap – she is just 36, while his is 53 years old. In fact Clooney has always been older than his girlfriends, with one US newspaper calculating the average age gap as 9.73 years.
But George and Amal are hardly breaking the celebrity mould. Famous celeb age gaps also include Tom Cruise who was 16 years older than his ex wife, Katie Holmes, and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who are 25 years apart.
Are you a fan of older men? Do you often get told: “He’s far too old for you!”? Here’s the lowdown on the benefits of dating an older man:
He’ll have more life experience: Whether the experience relates to his career, relationships, his prowess in the bedroom or a build-up of knowledge, he might be able to teach you a thing or two!
He’ll be more mature: This is a bit of a no-brainer really but you can turn to older guys for advice or guidance and they tend to be more dependable than their younger counterparts.
He’s more likely to be financially secure: Older guys are more likely to be knowledgeable about making and saving money. Financial security may not play a part in the initial days of a romance but as time goes on and a relationship becomes more serious, ultimately money matters become more important.
He’ll be more receptive to settling down: One of women’s big bugbears with younger guys is their reluctance to put a label on their relationship or talk about the future. Stability is likely to be more important to them, so they are likely to be more receptive to settling down and having committed relationships.
He’ll be romantic: Older men are much more in touch with their feelings. Do you love being sent flowers or gifts? Do you enjoy being sent soppy text messages? Older guys are much more likely to show how much they care openly and generously.
He’ll age better: Using Mr Clooney as a prime example, like fine wine, many men just look better as they get older…
