Desperate to unleash your inner Picasso? Want to stir up a frenzy like Tom Cruise with your cocktail making skills? Or create a little ‘Saturday Night Fever’ on the dance floor? You’re in need of some creative date ideas! Look see, we’ve drawn up 3 of our favourites just for you:
Print Club London Workshop
Haven’t donned an art overall since primary school? But secretly think you could top Andy Warhol’s Marilyn or Campbell’s Soup Can prints? This date idea is not only original and fun but you will leave with your very own A4 image to show off to your mates to boot!
Print Club London is a screen-printing studio, based in Dalston and the Beginner’s Workshop aims to get people up to a good standard, so they can screen-print on their own. Taught by a professional printer, the all-day class takes participants through every stage of the history of screen-printing, from the original art working, through to exposing the screens and then printing the image!
The classes run on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 11am-4pm and requires a tiny bit of forward planning: don’t wear your best clothes, because they’re likely to get messy oh, and take your black and white image along on a USB. The studio recommends bold images with solid blocks of colour as they produce better results.
Cocktail-Making Masterclass at Vinopolis
We think it’s safe to say that most of us like drinking cocktails but what about learning from the best mixologists around about how to blend the perfect Classic Dry Martini, Cosmopolitan or Caiprinha?
At Vinopolis, you will be able to add a twist of skills, a splash of expertise, a measure of like-minded people and you’ll be in line for a pretty fun date. Starting with a Framboise Fizz, the host will even give you a brief overview of cocktail making before getting started on how to make the classics. By the end of it, you will’ve also mastered the Whisky Galore and the Lady Marmalade. For the competitive types, the mixologist will sample your creations and award the best cocktail-maker with a prize!
Perfect for an after work meet-up, the classes are held on the first and third Thursdays of the month and kick off at 7pm and last an hour and half to two hours, so there is plenty of time afterwards to head out to the nearby Southbank for some dinner (and to soak up some of that alcohol). Enjoy!
Beginner’s Tango at City Academy
There’s something about the tango that is so hot, fiery and sexual that learning to master the basics of this dance could be a brilliant date to bring you and your partner together. Obviously not for a first date just in case your date has two left feet and dire need to brush their teeth but if you’ve met someone and you have definite chemistry, then get on your dancing shoes.
These taster sessions at City Academy aim to help participants explore the postures and the ‘close embrace’ to be able to dance in the proper way, learn the correct technique of following partners steps and to learn how to develop the basic steps into more complicated routines. Lasting an hour and held in venues around Liverpool Street, you will be able to test out your partner’s rhythm, trample on each other’s toes and get up close and personal. Perfect.
