Lucy Watson has already had quite the romantic rollercoaster when it comes to love during her time on Channel 4’s Made In Chelsea. First up she dated Spencer Matthews, who cheated on her numerous times, and then went on to have an on-off romance with Jamie Laing. In an extract from her new book, The Dating Game, sassy Lucy gives the lowdown on which guys she will be avoiding at all costs in the future.
These are what Lucy calls “The Unchangeables”:
Let’s face it; you can’t actually change someone. If you are playing a player, games are only a short-term solution, even if you get seriously good at it. Players don’t become monogamous men.
Look at my ex S. Yes, he came running back after he told me he didn’t want a relationship, but that didn’t mean he was going to be faithful to me. I should have just accepted what he wanted and never looked back. It’s pretty obvious, there are some guys that no amount of games are going to change. Avoid these guys at all costs, it’s not worth your time or heartache.
The player
• He calls you pet names like ‘sweetie’ and ‘hun’, so he doesn’t mix up your name with other girls
• He always has his phone on silent and never leaves it unattended
• He chases you and then backs off when he gets what he wants
• He has a wandering eye
The narcissist
• He thinks he can do no wrong
• He thinks he’s always in the right
• He thinks he’s the most important person in the room
• He cares about himself way more than anyone else
The attachment-issues guy
• He only wants to see you late at night
• He won’t introduce you to his friends or family
• He is busy at the weekends
• He avoids the topic of whether you are official and makes you feel crazy for asking
The not-that-bothered guy:
• He never takes you out on a date
• He always expects you to come to his place
• He doesn’t make any effort during sex
• He isn’t interested in getting to know you
The possessive guy:
• He checks your phone and your emails
• He calls you and texts you repeatedly when you are apart
• He tells you what to wear
• He obsessively asks about your ex-boyfriends.
Do you recognise any of these traits in the men you date?
