Are you the kind of person who loves being on the move? Or are you looking for something fun to do on a date which doesn’t involve sitting down and eating and drinking? Well if that’s the case, we’ve rounded up five of our favourite active date ideas in Birmingham:
Grand Prix Go-carting
This circuit has built up its reputation as the top Go Karting centre in the UK and if adrenalin sports and high speeds are your thing, this could make a brilliant date. Located one mile north of the city centre, Birmingham Wheels boasts state-of-the-art karts and International, National, GP and Junior circuits. It is often busy; so make sure you book in advance and girls, it’s time to stop worrying about helmet hair!
Tamworth Snowdome
Yes, it may be almost summer but a date here means digging out your winter woollies because Tamworth Snowdome boasts the magical white stuff all year round. And yes, it is real snow, minus the cost of jetting off to the Alps – hurray! The centre boasts a huge 170-metre slope and two smaller slopes for teaching and you can ski and snowboard until your heart’s content. Beginners will need to book onto a lesson and the teaching staff are friendly and have a host of qualifications, so you’ll be in good hands. And after all, there is nothing like some handholding and snowploughing to bring you closer to your date! If skiing sounds a bit too much like hard work, there is also tobogganing on offer, an ice rink and a pool with a huge slide on site. And when you’ve exhausted yourselves, there is a choice of bars and cafes to go to afterwards, where you can bond over your bruises.
Drayton Manor
Looking to rediscover your inner teenager? Then head to Drayton Manor theme park. Set in 280 acres and located just outside Tamworth, the park features some of the scariest, wettest and biggest rides around. Apocalypse is the world’s first stand-up tower drop and was rated the UK’s scariest ride by The Gadget Show; Stormforce 10, is the UK’s first reverse chute water coaster; and Maelstrom is a million-pound, stomach-churning gyro swing that makes you face outwards. Yikes! There is also a host of other more relaxing activities on offer including a zoo on site and if you’re not feeling too sick, there are a number of cafes, bars and restaurants to hole up in.
Creation Climbing Centre
Do you fancy challenging yourself, while also having a laugh? Creation is one of the largest climbing centres in the UK and for just £20 you can book a 90-minute, adrenalin-fuelled taster session with an instructor. There are loads of rope-routes and some serious overhangs, so if you would like to become more closely acquainted with a view of your date’s bum, then this is the date for you!
Mini Golf
A game of full-on golf can be a bit terrifying if you are a beginner (and who wants to traipse for miles looking for their ball), so where better to start than with a game of mini-golf? At Adventure Island Mini Golf at Star City, there are two 18-hole courses across different levels, featuring waterfalls, volcanoes and tiki huts. The pace of the game offers loads of opportunity for chatting and flirting. Unconventional and inexpensive, we think this date idea is a winner.
