This month, DatingAdvice are talking video which although killed the radio star, but might well be the future of online dating…
We are headed toward more diverse and technology-driven dating. Internet dating has been a hot area for quite a while now. So what’s next?
It seems video dating could be the next big thing.
Several factors are coming together that will soon allow people to date through video and on the go. Extremely high-speed Internet, which is 100 times the speed of what we currently are using, is making its way into major cities.
In addition to that, multiple headset-type devices that have virtual reality capabilities and Internet access are hitting the market. To add even further, there are video dating apps selling in mobile app stores as well.
What does all this mean? Well, video dating is coming of age and will definitely revolutionize dating as we know it today.
Rather than marking out a huge chunk of time in your calendar and rolling the dice to meet up with someone, you can start your video date on your lunch break or on your headset while you are walking to your next business meeting.
Yes, we already have video conferencing, video chatting and video calling. However, it has yet to be really packaged well into a dating service or become a big trend yet.
So what else is contributing to video dating becoming the next big thing?
Well, people are becoming lazier or more into instant gratification as the Internet becomes faster and more complex.
Online dating was a great resource when it came out. However, it can be painstaking to read through a couple hundred profiles and to get a handful if any dates out of that. It’s more like window-shopping than really taking charge of the situation.
Recent apps have allowed individuals to date based only on seeing the other person’s photo. This has really taken off because it is much faster and takes less time than traditional dating apps.
The thing is you still have to meet the date in person. If this idea were combined with video dating, it would be a dynamite combination.
Imagine flipping through photos and liking or not liking them. Then when a match is made, a video screen pops up and the date begins. Fifteen minutes later, you are done and will know whether this person is worth meeting in person or continuing with at all. This cuts to the chase and makes things much more time-efficient.
So. Video dating is quickly emerging as a new trend in the dating scene. Even though meeting people through traditional routes is still a mainstay of dating, the Internet is such an attractive option. What the future holds for dating is yet to come. However, video dating will definitely make its mark…
