Does your man still find breaking wind funny? Burps hysterical? And does he play videogames all the time? Fret not, we’ve looked into this and unearthed a study, which showed that men finally grow up at the age of 43, a mere 11 years after women!
Guys, pipe down. It wasn’t just women who said this; both sexes agreed that men stay “immature” until they reach their late 30s and early 40s, while eight out of 10 women who were quizzed said men “never stop being childish” and a quarter of the guys polled revealed that they were actively immature.
Fair enough but what does this mean for dating and romance? Women were twice as likely to feel that they played the role of the “grown up” in their partnership – and a quarter even said they felt like they were the ones making the important choices in the relationship. A quarter of those polled in the survey for TV channel Nickelodeon also said they wished their other halves would talk more about themselves and their emotions.
30 per cent of women said they had called time on their relationship because they had enough of their man being immature – and 46 per cent of women said they felt had to “mother” their other half too much. The words “act your age” apparently were said once a month or more.
These were the top 20 signs of immaturity listed:
1. Finding their own farts and burps funny
2. Eating fast food at 2 AM
3. Playing video games
4. Speeding or racing other cars at stoplights
5. Laughing at inappropriate words
6. Playing loud music in the car
7. Playing pranks
8. Trying to beat kids at games or sports
9. Silent treatment during an argument
10. Not being able to prepare simple meals
11. Telling the same jokes and stories with the guys
12. Doesn’t like talking about himself or having real conversations
13. Won’t read because it’s boring
14. Crazy moves on the dance floor
15. Mum still does his laundry
16. Mum still makes him breakfast or other meals
17. Wearing sneakers to the club
18. Owns a skateboard or BMX
19. Doesn’t eat vegetables
20. Changes jobs regularly
Guys, gals, do you agree? Or does being immature just mean you’re more fun
as Will Ferrell would say…?
