LovePie There’s nothing quite like a hearty ‘ol pie is there? And from 3rd-9th March it’s
National Pie Week, celebrating all things pie-related. Apple, steak, chicken and mushroom… er..banoffee?
Anyway, you get the picture!

Here’s our list of top 5 best London pie venues for some serious pastry filled lovin’

The London Dungeons have celebrated the event by getting their resident meat pie maker, Mrs Margery Lovett – of Sweeney Todd fame – to make a new range of “Stars In Their Pies” celebrity-related pies. These include the Miley Cyrus Tongue Pie, the Posh Pie, The Ant & Dec Bush Tucker Pasty and the TOWIE-tanned Lattice Pie.

However, if you want to properly tuck into your pie with your date (or without), then you’ll need a proper pie shop, so we thought we’d list five of our top London pie venues for you:

Piebury Corner, 209-211 Holloway Road, N7;
Football fans Paul and Nicky Campbell started selling pies from outside their home on Arsenal match days and now they have a shop, which is open all week. The menu features Tony Adams Steak and Ale pie, Charlie Nicholas Mutton Scotch pie and Thierry Henry Venison Red Wine pie.

Cooke’s, 48 Goldhawk Road, W12;
Famous for the fact that mod Phil Daniels and rocker Ray Winstone meet here, this is one of the best pie, mash and eel shops about. All their pies are served with served with homemade mash, gravy, liquor and peas. Yum!

Manze, 87 Tower Bridge Rd, SE1 4TW;
London’s oldest pie and mash shop, originally established in 1902 is still going strong (and using the same recipes as back in the old days). They also have branches in Peckham and Sutton.

Mother Mash, 26 Ganton Street, W1F 7QZ;
At this venue you can mix and match your own combo, from traditional Irish mash, cheesy mustard mash or horseradish mash to their choice of sausages or pies. You can even have your mash ‘mashed’ – velvety smooth, or ‘bashed’ – with a bit of texture. What more could you ask for?

Newman Arms, 23 Rathbone Street, W1T 1NG;

In the spring and summer you can expect lighter fillings such as chicken and asparagus, while in winter they use comforting recipes including game or more spices.          PieHeart
