Why is it that bumping into someone on a New York side walk seems tons more likely than a gloomy London pavement?
Apart from the empire states building, and the birth of online dating, there’s a few other dating tips we can learn from the Americans.
1. Americans say ‘hi’: Here in Blighty we find the whole just ‘chatting to someone because you fancy them’ thing a bit toe curly. Head out for a walk in Manhattan though and you’re likely to get chatted up, or at least a flirtatious look. You don’t have to be this bold, but at least roll the dice and be pro-active with your online dating messages.
2. Americans tell it straight: If someone finds you ‘hot’ in America chances are they’ll just come right out and say it. None of this ‘the weather’s pretty nice today’ nonsense. Try being more direct about your feelings instead of beating around the bush and you’ll find you make a bigger impression on the people you meet.
3. Americans date before they ‘go steady’: If you’re going to fully commit to someone and invest your time/ energy/ Sunday mornings in a person, then you better make sure you like them first! Besides, pushing for commitment on date one often isn’t all that sexy; so take your time, and make better dating choices.
Follow these simple dating tips from our friends across the pond; and you’ll soon find that your dating life seems more Sex in the City and less Hollyoaks.
