So, you’ve met someone new, the conversation is flowing, you’ve both laughed lots and you’re pretty sure there is chemistry from both sides. You really hope that they are as keen on you, as you are on them, but how can you tell?
We’ve listed the top 5 telltale signs that a second date WILL happen:
1. “Do you fancy dessert/going to get another drink?”
No one suggests dessert after dinner if they want to scoot home in double-quick time and even less so, if they are suggesting you go on somewhere else. If you’re keen, say yes to that chocolate brownie or nightcap and enjoy their company. They are clearly enjoying yours.
2. They touch your arm, lean in close or look at your mouth a lot
There is no hiding the unconscious body language that we make, especially when we fancy someone. Looking at your mouth shows they are thinking about what it would be like to kiss you, while touching indicates affection. Other positive body language signs include smiling a lot, mirroring your actions and maintaining eye contact.
3. They ignore their phone
Phones are very easy props to use when the conversation isn’t going the way we’d like it too, or when we’re not that into our dates. If your date ignores their phone, it shows they are fully engaged in what is going on and what you have to say. They clearly think any text messages and Twitter and Facebook can wait until tomorrow. Hurray!
4. Having deep conversations
If you get beyond the ordinary small talk about work, friends and how you’re all over the latest series of TOWIE, this is a good sign. Once you are talking about the things that matter to you in life, what your aims are and emotions, this shows your date trusts you.
5. “Did you get home OK?”
This text is just an excuse to get in touch – and ignore the “texting rules” and shows that your date is clearly wanting to see you again. They are keen to keep the conversation going and get the ball rolling towards date two.
